In the cartoon there is a king holding a veto paper. He also is standing on the constitution which is ripped. He also has a robe . He also has a staff in his hand with a crown on his head. The king stepping on the constitution symbolizes the hatred he has for the constitution. The veto in his hand represents the king vetoing the constitution. The message for this cartoon is that the king doesn't like the constitution so he wants to veto it.

in this picture, Andrew Jackson is...
-Holding a veto bill
-Stepping on the constitution

The action of Jackson stepping on the constitution is he disagrees with it. The eagle in the background represents braveness. The crown stands for him being ruler. Jackson holding a veto bill means he vetoed the bill.

The cartoonist makes Andrew Jackson look like a bad king because he is stepping on the constitution.

2: The symbols and actions in the picture represent government, for example the scepter defines power, the constitution that he is standing on shows that he doesn't think that banks are constitutional even though the constitution says that it is,the eagle represents America.

3: The message that the cartoonist is trying to express is that Jackson dislikes banks. The veto in his hand is when Andrew Jackson vetoed the bill that allowed the banks to renew. Jackson disliked banks because it gave more power to the rich people and not to the farmers.

1.) Crown and wardrobe. A scepter that defines power. The veto over the bank charter bill. The constitution of the United States and the eagle representing himself as the civilian.
2.) The crown defines that he is a king and that he is the ruler of the United States.
The scepter represents his power.Jackson over the constitution means that he's evil and is ignorant about the US. Lastly the eagle shows that he's a civilian.
3.) It shows on the perspective of the bankers that he is a ruler that really doesn't care about our society and the future of the United States. He is a spoiled ruler not even caring about our Constitution. Pretty much he's "evil."

1. We see the constitution of the united states destroyed on the floor. we see a king with a piece of paper in his hand that has VETOES printed big. It looks like president Andrew dressing up as a king. he has a BIG crown, with what looks like a walking stick, and a long cape on him. 2. The symbols around him are probably what people think or said about him, or they represent what type of person he is. The actions are trying to say that he is powerful and doesn't care what people think of him. 3. The message the political cartoon is trying to express is that he will always be the king.

His stepping on the paper that represents the constitution of the United States which means that he betrayed America. The bill that his holding says "veto" because h has vetoed to many bill and that he docent agree to any laws.Andrew Jackson was like a king, unrespect the laws and made his own. He will give power to the ones that he wanted to and was selfish to others.

The political cartoon about Andrew Jackson contains many references to royalty: the crown, the royal robes, the sceptre, the throne, and the royal slippers all symbolize that Jackson is acting like a king -- but, of course, he wasn't elected to be king. The labels, "born to command" and "King Andrew the First" are also indicators that Jackson is taking actions that only a king would take. The actions that he is taking is his veto of the bank bill, shown here with his veto paper and his foot on the bill -- as well as his foot on the Constitution.
The artist is showing that Jackson's action in vetoing the bank bill are the actions of a tyrannical king, not an elected president of a republic.

Manifest Destiny, or the belief that it was American's God-given-right/responsibility to expand the United States boarders from the Atlantic to the Pacific. It was used to urge the annexation of Texas and to encourage American settlement of European colonial and Indian lands in the west to build the American Empire.

People moved west because there was rich land for farming, opportunities for business or self advancement, politicians could make a name for themselves in places that are underdeveloped and could gain a seat in the House or the Senate easier than if they were in New England, it was a place for fugitives to start a new life, and of course, there was the thought to expand slavery. There were also very high birth rates and increased immigration, better trade for maritime merchants, and slaves could have their freedom in the western territories. And last but not least, the gold rush started in California in the late 1940s.

In document 1 in the Democratic Review, 1845 explain "Mexico.. imbecile and distracted.."its saying that Mexico is not very smart enough to take care of the land because mexicans cant handle so the Americans to take over.In reading 2 President polks war message 1846,"Mexico..has invaded our territory and shed American blood upon American blood.." It justified the expansion because Mexico had invaded their land and killed their people. In New York evening post 1848, "..resing this beautiful country to the custody of the ignorant cowards and profigate ruffians",that is explaning that the Americans think that the Mexicans are not quite smart to handle such a beautiful land so might as well take it away from them.In reading 4 Debow's commercial Review, 1848,they are explaning that Mexicans are encroaching their land and the Americans will annex the land.
